In 1996, Sharyn Crystal was invited to appear on Midday with Kerri-Anne in Sydney. 
In front of a live audience, she told of her life growing up in Australia, a black child in a white family and of the search for her African American father and its incredible outcome.
Midday with Kerri-Anne Kennerly was an Australian nationally televised show. Up to that day, Sharyn had only spoken with her new family over the phone and had exchanged photographs.
But Kerri-Anne had a surprise for Sharyn.
